• It was only built to run 40 years, ending 2012

• The plant’s design is so outdated, it would not be allowed to be built today

• Pushing the old plant beyond its limits, VY is running at 120% of its designed capacity

• 76 cracks have already been identified in large reactor components since 2005

• In Aug. 2007, a cooling tower collapsed after “deferred maintenance”

• Two independent inspections concluded that VY has serious reliability problems

• In the first three months of 2009, VY suffered from THREE separate radioactive leaks
